Using Photos on Websites

This week we take a look at a few examples of websites that use pictures to tell a story while sharing their product offerings. Before we begin a few disclaimers: All of these photos were taken directly from the websites listed. They are shown here strictly for illustrating the use of photos for portraying their products and as such are not shown to endorse the products or advertise them. Compass consulting retains no rights of ownership or copyrights to these photos that were retrieved in the public domain. Now that the legal bits are out of the way lets talk about how your business can tell an effective story much like these companies do using photos that evoke emotion and memory to enhance their product offerings. The effective use of photos conveys much more than just the size or type or style- it tells a story about how using their product enhances your life or lifestyle. Take for example

https://www.foodiesfeed.com/

These Photos from their site tell a story with absolutely no captions needed. Organic foods and the quality they represent, The wholesomeness and beauty of Fresh summer fruits and finally the enjoyment of dining well with good friends or family. Food evoked memories are some of the strongest and can be very influential in helping to bring customers to your restaurant. The use of color, display and action provide the details necessary to convey the message. Let the pictures tell your story…

Ford.com

These Photos show some of the vehicle’s offered and how they are more than just grocery getters. The Heavy duty truck towing a large trailer conveys power and speed in the high mountains. The Blue SUV crossing a bridge with the city behind and speeding forward in a blur heading into unknown adventure. And finally the Race truck living up to its namesake and flying through a race course….all of these images convey motion and speed, stepping way outside of the traditional transportation box and into adventure. They say if you buy our vehicles you get much more than just transportation-you get fun, excitement, and all roads lead to your next adventure.

Disneyworld.com

Who doesn’t love vacations with their families and getting to share a little magic?? Disney has been and will remain the leader in creating memories that last a lifetime and they tease us with the family photos of Holiday magic, adventure and maybe a little trip to Neverland.

Using your photos to tell your story helps to create an emotional buy-in with your customers. We are all human and things like trust, loyalty, appreciation are all emotions and if you can create the perception of these and other emotive qualities in your business, you may have a much better chance of getting those folks to visit and experience your brand of service and quality in person and keep them!!!!
