Planning for your GoalsWell as 2017 comes to a close, America has received some very good news from Washington in the form of a new Tax base for all and so far, it looks very promising for most. But for some folks in business, they may have missed their goals for 2017 and that is not good news. Let’s review some steps to put in place for 2018 that will help you and your Business hit the ground running and hopefully finish ahead of your goals.

  • Make your plan a team plan! Rarely can a business plan succeed without the effort and buy-in of the whole team. Think of your plan like it’s a team of horses pulling wagon. All of the horses have to be focused on puling in the same direction or you are likely to miss your delivery time and could miss your destination.
  • Remember to RATE your plan to be sure it will get you where you need to be:
  • R=REALISTIC- is your plan realistic in it’s concepts and your ability to execute it.
  • A=ACHIEVABLE-Given your tools, talent and timeframe can you achieve your goals?
  • T=TIMELY-IS your Plan going to be completed within your needed timeframe?
  • E=EFFECTIVE-is your plan going to Effectively get Your team in the winner’s circle?
  • Once you have created a Plan that meets these criteria, then you are off to the races, right?? Well you absolutely should have a great start, but as we know in our personal lives, Life tends to get in the way of the best laid plans. So, it is imperative that you have a good follow through solution. I recommend PEMA.
  • P=PLAN- We already have the plan that we as a team feel will get us where we need to be.
  • E=EXECUTE-Good execution is crucial to our plan succeeding. Poor execution will kill momentum
  • M=MONITOR- Monitor for Miscues and track progress, if you are off track make adjustments.
  • A=ADAPT-Adapt your plan to make course corrections early and often as needed to stay on target.

The effort and hard work you put into your business should be reflected in your payoff. IF you have created a Solid Business Plan and you are diligent in monitoring and adapting through each week, month and quarter, you should end your year well on target and be successful.

Success is a habit and when you monitor your progress it becomes a habit to help you be in the winner’s circle each and every year!

From all of us at Compass Consulting Merry Christmas and have a Successful and Prosperous New Year!
